Suet Recipe A quick search of the internet will yield many, many great suet recipes! For quick reference, here's the recipe that we use within our "Your Backyard" DVD. 1 cup crunchy peanut butter 1 cup of lard 2 cups quick cook oats 2 cups cornmeal 1 cup flour 1/3 cup sugar Melt the peanut butter and lard in a sauce pan over low heat. Once melted, remove from the stove and stir in other ingredients! That's it! Very easy!
The great thing about suet is that you can be creative. You can add bits of fruit, nuts, birdseed, even Cheerios! Experiment a bit and see what your backyard birds enjoy!

Hummingbird Mixture It doesn't get any easier than making a simple hummingbird mixture! The general rule is one part white table sugar to four parts of water (1:4). Bring the water to a boil, add the sugar and then let cool before adding to your hummingbird feeder. And, remember, don't add red food coloring as food coloring is not good for the birds. Enjoy! |
